Drug and alcohol abuse under the radar
Novel psychoactive substances (NPS) are compounds designed to mimic the effects of prescription drugs, evade detection by typical drug testing methodologies, and avoid regulation. NPS can also be referred to as “legal highs.” The prevalence of these NPS is growing. Understand how these substances may be detected for appropriate risk assessment. Diagnostic innovations in alcohol detection testing: alcohol detection by laboratory methods has evolved. Learn more about currently available methods of alcohol detection, including their benefits and limitations. We will cover carbohydrate deficient transferrin (CDT), alcohol metabolites (ethyl glucuronide and ethyl sulfate), blood ethanol, and phosphatidyl ethanol (PEth).
